Allcocks Fishing Reels
Allcocks of Redditch pulled of a master stroke by taking on and developing the Henry Coxon inspired Aerial. Henry Coxon was a well known angler in the 19th century and was credited with the invention of the 'Aerial' reel. It was brilliant for the time, being lighter than the Nottingham reels and constructed on a bicycle wheel design. Henry Coxon used spokes to attach the hub of the reel to the flanges. Allcocks of Redditch perfected the reel and started production in 1986. The reel was known as a ventilated reel and thus half the weight of the equivalent wooden reel. The skeletal construction speeded up the drying of the line when retrieved from the water.
Having owned one of these magical reels I can confirm how smooth and easy it was to use, the lightness, even though it seemed fragile it was still sturdy enough for the constant fly casting motions. This reel is a true gem.
